어쩌다 보니 그녀를 알아요.

 

A.이 프로젝트를 도와줄 수 있는 사람을 알고 있나요?
B.어쩌다 보니 이 분야를 전문으로 하는 컨설턴트를 알아요.
A.정말 좋아요! 소개해 줄 수 있어요?
B.물론이죠, 제가 만남을 주선할게요.
 
A.Do you know anyone to help this project?

---Do you know anyone who can help with this project?


B.Somehow I know the concertant, expert of this field.

--- I happen to know a consultant who specializes in this field.


A.Really good! Can you introduce me that guy? ❌ >> Can you introduce me to that guy?

---That's great! Can you introduce me?


B.Sure, I'll afford the meeting. ❌
---Sure, I'll arrange the meeting. 


어쩌다 보니 이 영화를 좋아해.
어쩌다 보니 내일 시간이 있어.
어쩌다 보니 스페인어를 할 줄 알아.
어쩌다 보니 티켓이 하나 더 있어.
어쩌다 보니 답을 알아.

 

Somehow I like this movie.

--- I happen to I like this movie.

 

Somehow I have some time tomorrow.

--- I happen to be free tomorrow.

 

Somehow I can speak Spanish.

--- I happen to speak Spanish.

 

Somehow I have one more ticket. >> 더 자연스러운 표현 :  I somehow have one more ticket.

--- I happen to have an extra ticket.

 

Somehow I know the answer.

---I happen to know the answer.

 

  • Somehow → 어쩐지, 어떻게든 (이유는 모르지만 결과는 있음)
  • For some reason → 이유는 잘 모르지만, 어떤 이유로
  • "For some reason, I like this movie."
  • "I kind of like this movie." (왠지 이 영화가 좋아요)

62. I was about to call you.

 

너에게 막 전화하려고 했어.

 

A.보고서를 끝냈나요?
B.당신이 전화했을 때 막 시작하려고 했어요.
A.방해해서 미안해요. 정오까지 보내줄 수 있어요?
B.네, 완료되도록 할게요.
 
A.Did you finish the report?

 

B.I'm just going to start when you call me.( 당신이 부르면 바로 시작할 거예요. )

going to + 동사 원형 = 미래 계획/의도

---I was about to start it when you called.


A.I'm sorry to interrupt. Can you send me it by noon? ❌ >> Can you send it to me by noon?

--- Sorry to interrupt. Can you send it by noon?


B.Yes, I'll going to finish it. ❌ → I'llgoing to는 같이 못 씀
--- Yes, I'll make sure it's done. 


막 떠나려고 했어.
막 저녁을 먹으려고 했어.
막 자려고 했어.
막 공부를 시작하려고 했어.
막 메세지를 보내려던 참이었어.

I'm just going to leave now.

---I was about to leave.


I'm just going to have dinner now.

--- I was about to eat dinner.


I'm just going to go to bed now.

--- I was about to go to bed.


I'm just going to start to study now.

--- I was about to start studying.


I'm just going to send you messages.

--- I was about to send you a message.

너에게 전화하려고 했어.

 

A.식료품 샀어?
B.사려고 했는데, 가게가 문을 닫았더라.
A.오 안돼, 저녁 식사에 필요한 것들이었는데.
B.내일 아침에 제일 먼저 갈게.
 
A.Did you buy some groceries?

--- Did you buy the groceries?


B.I wanted it, but the store was closed.( 그거 갖고 싶었는데, 가게가 닫혀 있었어요. )

---I was going to, but the store was closed.

was going to + 동사 → 막 ~하려던 참, 계획/의도 강조


A.Oh no, These are things of  necessary for dinner.( 이것들은 저녁 준비에 필요한 것들입니다. )

things of necessary ❌ → 그냥 things necessary

--- Oh no, we needed those items for dinner.


B.I'll go first tomorrow morning.

--- I'll go first thing in the morning.(그날의 가장 빠른 시간/때)


 
떠나려고 했어.
저녁을 먹으려고 했어.
자려고 했어.
공부를 시작하려고 했어.
메세지를 보내려고 했어.

I was going to leave.

 

I was going to have a dinner.

 

I was going to sleep.

 

I was going to start studying.

 

I was going to send a message.

--- I was going to send you a message.

모두가 말한 만큼 좋아.

 

A.영화 어땠어?
B.리뷰에서 말한 만큼 좋았어.
A.인상적이네. 나도 봐야겠어.
B.그래. 모두가 말한 만큼 좋아.
 
A.How are you feeling the movie? ❌

---How was the movie?

  • How are you feeling about the movie?
  • What do you think of the movie?(평가)


B.It's good as review said.

--- It was as good as the reviews said.


A.Impressive. I'd like to watch it.

---That's impressive. I need to watch it too.

 

  • I'd like to watch it → 보고 싶다 (희망)
  • I need to watch it → 봐야 한다 (의무/강한 필요)


B.Yeah.It's as good as people said.

--- You should. It's as good as everyone says.


 
이 식사는 집에서 만든 음식만큼 좋아.
그녀의 인기는 프로 배우들만큼 좋았어.
이 컴퓨터는 새것만큼 좋아.
그의 아이디어는 내 것만큼 좋아.
결과는 기대한 만큼 좋아.

This dish is as good as homemade dish. >> ahomemade dish 앞에 관사 필요

---This meal is as good as home-cooked food.


Her performance is as good as pro actors.(구어체, 친구들끼리 말할 때 가능)

--- Her performance was as good as the professional actors.


This computer is as good as new one.

 

His idea is as good as mine.

 

The result is as good as expecting. ❌ → 진행형 동사, 맞지 않음.

--- The results are as good as expected.

65. It's hard for me to concentrate.

 

집중하기가 어려워.

 

A.일은 어떻게 돼가?
B.소음 때문에 집중하기가 어려워.
A.소음 차단 헤드폰을 써보는 게 어때?
B.좋은 생각이야. 한 번 해볼게.
 
A.How's it going at work?

---How is your work going?


B.I can't concentrate with all the noise.

---It's hard for me to concentrate with all the noise.

hard for me to + 동사 → 주어가 행동하는 데 어려움을 느낌


A.What about using a noise canceling head phone?

---Maybe you should try using noise-canceling headphones.


B.That's a good idea.I'll give it a try.
 
이 개념을 이해하기가 어려워.
집중하기가 어려워.
빠르게 결정을 내리기가 어려워.
운동할 시간을 내기가 어려워.
내 감정을 표현하기가 어려워.

It's difficult to understand the notion.

It's difficult to decide fast.

---It's hard for me to make decisions quickly.

---It's hard for me to express my feelings.

 

  • difficult to + 동사 → 일반적 어려움
  • hard for + 사람 + to + 동사 → 특정 사람에게 어려움 강조
